Card Display Settings

The Card Display settings control how and where a field appears on your Trello cards, both on the card tile in the board view and when a card is opened. These settings are available on every field type.

Use them to decide which fields are visible at a glance, which stay hidden until a card is opened, and how to guide your team when filling in field values.

Card Display Settings Explained

Show field value on card front

When checked, the field's value is visible directly on the card tile in the board view, without needing to open the card. Use this for fields that need to be visible at a glance, such as a status, priority, or due date.

Show field name on card front

When checked, the field's label appears on the card front. You can enable this independently of the value, for example, showing the label only, or showing both together for full context.

Show activity of changes (Beta)

When enabled, Amazing Fields logs every change made to this field and adds an entry to the Trello card's activity feed. This gives you a built-in audit trail showing who changed a value and when.

The activity log is currently in beta. Behavior may change in future updates.

Hide field on new cards by default

When enabled, this field will not appear on newly created cards. This is useful for fields that are only relevant to certain cards. It keeps cards tidy without removing the field from the board entirely.

You can reveal the field on any individual card using the Visible Fields settings on the card itself.

Need to show a hidden field on a specific card? See the Field Visibility article to learn how to control field visibility per card.

Help Text

Adds a short hint next to the field label when viewing a card. Use this to tell board members what to enter in the field, especially useful on shared boards or when setting up a new workflow for your team.

Placeholder

Sets the text shown inside an empty field before any value is entered. This works like a form hint and encourages users to fill in the field as they work through a card.

Combining Placeholder with Help Text creates a clear, guided experience for users filling out card details.

Single Card Field

When set, this option attaches the field to one specific card only, rather than making it available across all cards on the board.
