How to Import Spreadsheet Data into Amazing Fields for Trello

This article explains how to import existing spreadsheet data into Amazing Fields custom fields on your Trello cards. If you're migrating data from a CSV or spreadsheet into Trello, or need to bulk-populate Amazing Fields custom fields across multiple cards, this workflow is for you.

How it works: Amazing Fields stores its custom field data using Trello's native custom fields behind the scenes. This means any Trello-compatible import tool can populate Amazing Fields data, as long as you map your spreadsheet columns to the correct Trello fields during import.

Importing your spreadsheet

  1. Set up your Amazing Fields custom fields

Before importing, make sure all the Amazing Fields custom fields you want to populate already exist on your Trello board. Each Amazing Fields field has a corresponding Trello custom field that will appear as an import target. For more information on custom fields, see how to set up a custom field with Amazing Fields.

Note: Creating Amazing Fields custom fields requires Trello Custom Field 2-Way Sync, which is a supporter-only feature. If you're on the free plan, upgrade to unlock this feature before setting up your import.

  1. Install Import to Trello by Blue Cat

Our recommended import tool is Import to Trello by Blue Cat. It's purpose-built for mapping spreadsheet columns to Trello card data, including custom fields.

  1. Prepare your spreadsheet

Make sure your column headers clearly reflect the data you want to import.

  1. Run the import and map your columns

In the Blue Cat import screen, match each spreadsheet column to its corresponding Trello field. For Amazing Fields custom fields, select the synced field name from the Trello field dropdown.

  1. Confirm and run the import

Review the row count and field mappings before clicking the import button. Once confirmed, Blue Cat will populate your Trello cards with the mapped data.
